My wedding anniversary.
My wedding anniversary.
Tomorrow, June 14th is my 7 year wedding anniversary. One of the things that makes my anniversary even more special than it already is, is the fact that my wedding was pretty much an NA event so to speak.
We met at a meeting, and when we were making our plans to get married we both felt the same way, that the people in NA were probably closer to us than our own families were and it was important to us that they be there. We planned an outdoor wedding in the mountains, when the fundraising committee of the convention found out we were getting married at Hickory Run State Park (where we always hold NA campouts) they decided to plan a fundraisin campout for that weekend. Kill 2 birds with one stone. Everyone would be there for our wedding, and the convention could raise some money. It was a beautiful day. We filled 5 group campsites, and the local hotel. The wedding party with the exception of my father and my kids were all members of NA. The group shot of everyone that was at the wedding is amazing to look a today. Some are still here, some gone. Our reception was back at the campsite, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken and sausage cooked on an open fire. It was awesome. Today we are more in love than ever.
Just wanted to share that. I am proud of the fact that around here people refer to us when they want an example of a healthy happy relationship in recovery. They do happen.

Next weekend we're going down the shore, and one night this week when someone can babysit we're going out to dinner.
We can all get it right, it just takes a little work, and a lot of maintenance. Just like recovery.
