Hi Steve

this is a substance abuse recovery forum, not data recovery

ROFL reminds me of an comedy sketch in the UK

Guy is sitting in an AA meeting and everyone shares and he then asks what he should do with his dodgy brakes. AA is also automobile association in UK

Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.

I'll make this short, and in recovery I have needed my data and my machine to work as is in demand. Ok so first of all the data is on a harddrive, keep that drive someplace safe. Then you should have another harddrive in which windows or other operating system is installed. On this working machine you need to get software like 'pci file recovery' or 'spinrite'... Try the first one if you can find it. Then you just plug in the old drive onto your machine and plug the power in it. If your machine detects the old drive somewhere then all is set, run the software, and read the manual.

The use of SR requires a machine and the best place to do it for me is at home. So offtopic a bit here, sorry about that. However, one thing of sobriety is that it has brought me back to fix stuff with my machine and it is a skill among others, to me it's really valuable. Just another nice thing to find when sober.

For the OP, if you don't understand everything in the text that is fine, ask a friend if you can or if you can use google, search the names on google.
