what's up with onehigherpower's writing ?

a few years ago while in sobriety
I suffered with Global Transit Amnesia
I was having an intense study with a sober friend
then all of a sudden
I was looking directly at him and did not know who he was
I did not even know who I was for a while
then off to the hospital for the night with several test
diagnosed with Global Transit Amnesia
it was a terrible thing in which to recover from
the first real strong thought in my head was (thank God)
I was so very grateful that I was not drinking or using
due to the fact I think of working a good program
sobriety was still #1 on my mind although most else was gone
anyway
since that episode I have written like this most of the time
I understand
it works for some and not for others
but
I think the message of recovery is here
found on these broken lines
for the one that still suffers
if
I may help just one
yes
that is my prayer just one
then it is all worth it

I'm very pleased to be involved with this very active recovery site
asking of you to bare with me regarding my writing skills

many blessings sent

It's fine. I just thought you had an e.e. cummings thing going. What is "Global Transit?" Where you one an airplane?

Cool

I believe what the OP meant was Transient Global Amnesia.........:

"...a well-described medical and clinical phenomenon. This form of amnesia is distinct in that abnormalities in the hippocampus can sometimes be visualized using a special form of magnetic resonance imaging of the brain known as diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). Symptoms typically last for less than a day and there is often no clear precipitating factor or any other neurological deficits. The cause of this syndrome is not clear. The hypothesis of the syndrome includes transient reduced blood flow, possible seizure or an atypical type of migraine. Patients are typically amnestic of events more than a few minutes in the past, though immediate recall is usually preserved..."

that's right it's called Transient Global Amnesia
a few years back after the episode
I read up regarding Transient Global Amnesia on the internet

read something like it strikes proxy 1 out of 100,000 people each year
well I'm not to sure about that
because I'm hearing about more and more people getting it

my ex-wife's mother was struck also around the time I was
she was at the gym working out
then all of a sudden she was at her house
she did not remember driving home

read somewhere that it is uncommon to have it more than once
my wife's girlfriends husband has had it at least 4 or 5 times

read that recovery is usually within hours
this may be true
but
for me there was a slight lingering fog for many months

read that possibly stress may at times bring it on
this seems to be true
I was involved in a deep study when I got it
wife's girlfriends husband's one episode was after his wife got nasty with him

bottom line
does not seem like the doctors know exactly what causes it
or what it exactly it is

I like your posts very much!!!!

Easy to read for sure! Much more so than when a poster puts the whole post in one paragraph. I sometimes have to pass on those, as that type of post makes these old eyes of mine start to cross. lol

Just keep posting please, I am enjoying your ES&H!!

Love and hugs,

I love your posts too! Actually, I was a creative writing minor in college and line breaks communicate emphasis, artful expression and meaning so go for it!
