I'm in my 30s ! My mom and dad even like his music especially after going through this they can now understand what he's talking about rather than just hearing him cuss and scream as my dad use to call it. Lol. Now the old man is listening to hip hop and he's in his 60s got a love it.

"Another Drinkin' Song"- Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Gonna dive into a dive I've dove into before.
Gonna haunt a haunt I've haunted like a million times or more.
A familiar joint where getting drunk's the only point.
To frequent this place with any frequency at all.
Countin' on a remedy I've counted on before.
Goin' with a cure that's never failed me.
What you call the disease, I call the remedy.
What you're callin' the cause, I call the cure.
Gonna sing a song, a song to you, a song I've sung before.
Belt out a ballad that I've belted out a million times or more.
The words I'm gonna scream,
And getting drunk is the central theme to the lyrics
If you can make the lyrics out at all.
Countin' on a remedy I've counted on before.
Goin' with a cure that's never failed me.
What you call the disease, I call the remedy.
What you're callin' the cause, I call the cure.
Just a devotion to a potion.
Please, no applause.
A dedication to a medication.
A crutch, a cure, a cause.
What I've counted on to pick me up has knocked me to my knees.
Before I hit the floor once more I'll call it the disease.

City & Colour - Confessions
Reminds me entirely the regret of all my years of use and how long it took me to finally realize how horribly it condemned my life, but also how it is not something that can be escaped or erased - it is what it is, it happened, now time to face those demons and make it right.

So glad to see you well.
Overcome and completely silent now.
With heaven's help.
You cast your demons out.
And not to pull your halo down.
Around your neck and tug you off
off your cloud.
But I'm more than just a little curious.
How you're planning to go about.
Making your amends to the dead.
To the dead
Overcome and completely silent now.
With heaven's help.
You cast your demons out.
And not to pull your halo down.
Around your neck and tug you off
off your cloud.
But I'm more than just a little curious.

To the dead

Otherside - Macklemore.
Not usually a fan of rap, but the remix version is great and has a good video to go along with it.
MACKLEMORE X RYAN LEWIS - OTHERSIDE REMIX FEAT. FENCES [MUSIC VIDEO] - YouTube
Again by Macklemore - Inhale Deep

Lamb of God - Descending. I'm pretty sure it's about the singers; substance abuse but I could be wrong.

Three Days Grace - Over and Over. One of my favourite songs by them and the whole One-X album has the same theme.

"Somebody That I Used To Know" (feat. Kimbra)
Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra) - official video - YouTube
Ultimate break up song. So little said - that is so to the point.
NO CONTACT !
[Gotye:]
Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember
You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad it was over
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and I feel so rough
No you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
[Kimbra:]
Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
Part of me believing it was always something that I'd done
But I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know
[Gotye:]
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and I feel so rough
And you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
[x2]
Somebody
(I used to know)
Somebody
(Now you're just somebody that I used to know)
(I used to know)
(That I used to know)
(I used to know)
