Recovery books
Does anyone know of any good recovery books by authors who have been in recovery and recovered without aa or the steps. I would love to read something that talks about the struggles people have been through. I have read a couple of books with people who were in recvery with the steps but now i would like a different perspective. Thanks

And Sober For Good... It's not a memoir, but was researched, compiled and written by a former alcoholic. She interviewed people who got sober in a myriad of ways. They share pieces of their stories in that book. It is the single most important recovery book I've laid my hands on, so far

I've read "Dry," which nandm suggested - pretty funny for a recovery book.
"From Death Do I Part: How I freed Myself From Addiction" by Amy Lee Coy is a more serious sort of book.

This guy stayed sober for 45 years before there was any AA, SMART or Rational Recovery:

Could title his book as stop being an Dick. Same system works for a great many that are fortunate enough to doge the mystical smoke and mirrors modality of recovery.

There might be some found in Christian book stores....I've not looked for them however....
I lost the abilty to read books years ago after my successful AA recovery.
You could also check out our SR Foorum Book Club...post there and perhaps members will share.

This book is excellent if one is struggling with the concept of "God" in the AA program. As an atheist this book really helped me. It is the book that made the difference for me because it helped me define a non JudeoChristian "God" or as I believe a "Higher Power".
