Essential Oils and Homemade Crafts

Does anyone else out there dabble in essential oils, candle making, soap making, etc?

Essential Oils

I love my essential oils, and use them a lot for helping me relax, become more calm.

I make my own mouthwash with them, and would love to learn how to make shampoo and conditioners etc, as I am very allergic to the commercial products, as there is some chemical in them that makes me short of breath. I have ended up in the Emergency room after a visit to the hairdresser!

Have a wonderful joy-filled weekend!

Ooooh! Exzim, what's your mouthwash recipe?

I'd love to do shampoos, too. My favorite shampoo is Aveda's Shampure, but it's expensive. I've tried to recreate the smell....I know it has ylang ylang, lavender, bergamot, and rosemary in it, but can't get it just right. I just use a fragrance free shampoo like Jason brand and add the oils to it and shake it up.

Today's been pretty stressful, so I'm going to put some vetiver on. It's one of my favorites!

Essential oils

Good idea LPS - to add my favourite oil to fragrance free shampoo -
thanks! Finding fragrance free shampoo and lotions is always a challenge for me

For mouthwash I use water and add tea tree oil (natural antibacterial) and peppermint oil.

I love lavender and apply a drop of it to my pillow at night to help me fall asleep.

I use a powder mineral foundation, so I like to clean my application brush every couple of weeks. I'm going to try this today, from the dōTerra blog: https://www.doterra.com/US/en/blog/d...brush-cleanser

(I don't use any one brand of EO's exclusively...I just like dōTerra's blog)

Here is a super easy, fast, and effective way to self-care:

Raw Honey Mask with Lavender

Mix one tablespoon of raw honey or Manuka honey (lots of antioxidants for the skin) with 2-3 drops of Lavender essential oil. Apply to face and let sit for 15-20 minutes. Use a warm washcloth to wipe off.

The honey is antibacterial, as well as moisturizing, so it is beneficial for just about every skin type!

My favorite essential oil blend right now! I use it as a perfume, wearing it "neat" and have been diffusing it as well.

Essential Oils

LPS,

That Peace Love and Flowers looks like a great blend. I will have to get it when my budget allows.

Enjoy!

Below is a great recipe for DIY foot scrub - - I like to do this after a long day or when my plantar fasciitis is acting up. Feel free to play around with the oils used!

Foot Scrub

1 1/2 cups of sea salt. (I use a fine pink Himalayan sea salt that I found at Marshalls in a big bag for cheap!)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons coconut oil
8 drops tea tree oil
5 drops peppermint essential oil
8 drops lavender essential oil

Combine and store in a glass container - - I like the 4 oz. mason jars.
