I think the people who like to change the avatars probably get easily bored as well Interesting topic though... I actually even asked my therapist about this once, as a joke (kind of), what he thought about the people who frequently change avatars on message boards vs the ones who keep one forever. I also referred to him having the same picture on all his web pages... I was asking something along the lines of "do you think changing them frequently means that those people are unsure about their identity? or are they undergoing some sort of identity crisis? or is it that the ones who have a single one stably are very stubborn and set in their ways?"
He laughed and said that was a sassy comment.
But seriously, I don't think it means much more definable than the people who like to change the avis probably have a more visual type of imagination than others, like to play with images and/or express ourselves that way. Does not mean more or less creativity compared with others, just perhaps a different kind. Like learning styles.

SoberLeigh, I also saw something else in that umbrella... I always considered it a piece of cloth, like a scarf or something, swirling in the wind. But strategery's version is much more interesting. I totally failed seeing the "sun bleached" part of the umbrella and recognize it as such. I had a similar idea about its meaning as SL herself about change and freedom, was just thinking the flying cloth in the wind represented that even more.

I like all the animal avatars, too, whether real or imaginary ones

More on the interpretation of images... I once dated a painter, long time ago. I loved watching him work and also play with paint together. I can't really paint, but we would just randomly throw paint on canvas without thinking much, and then guess/discuss what the "images" meant for us, what we saw in them. Similar things visiting art galleries with friends who are interested in this and talk about what sorts of subjective things and meaning we see in the art work. I can do this for hours and not get bored.

TrixMixer, there was this other similar thread a while ago also:
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...hy-avitar.html
It's old and I believe many of the current pictures and explanations don't match anymore (including mine), but maybe interesting.

It is more mysterious (and, I think, more peaceful) when it is in avatar size. I just found the larger image a few minutes ago.

My beloved Cuervo. AKA the devil dog. She was my first loss in sobriety and was in my arms when she passed. She will be forever in my heart as the coolest razor blade eating, tin can chewing, counter surfing, tennis ball ingesting, swamp swimming, mud rolling, bird chasing, furniture chewing, invisable fence beakout artist, command ignorer, shoulder dislocator and my best friend

. . . and more imaginative and interpretive in the avatar size (and now I can see a little girl thanks to strategery and a flowing scarf thanks to haennie leading me to like it even more). Thanks, guys.

Oh this is such a delicious thread ! Thank u

Mine was taken in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. We rented this crazy dome home on Lake Michigan for the weekend and I woke up that morning, hung to the toes of course. Anxiety through the roof. I stepped out onto the porch, to shake off the misery, feeling lower than a pregnant ant. Depressed beyond comprehension, heart pounding out of my chest, pacing, sweating, choking back vomit. Grasping for any bit of solace in the dreaded early morning following a binge.

This was what was waiting for me when I drew the curtains.

Favorite. Picture. Ever.

Trix, so you like cats... slightly diverted, but I'm just planning to get two Siamese babies I almost bought into a crazy idea to get them from Asia (I visited a breeder and a litter) and transport to the US, but glad my sane judgment kicked in along the way. So I've already hooked up with breeders in NY and the plan is to get two Meezer babies sometime this summer. May sound weird (literally!), but I'm inspired by this video The kinds of cats I am looking for, crazy or not Maybe I'll have them as an avatar then

OMG!!!! LOL!!!!!!! 3 x over!!

When I played this vid my cat MEEZY came running from the other room , jumped up to the highest point on her cat condo and kept trying to find those cats. She was looking everwher--still is,.......amazing!!!

I always had Siamese, haenna. They are the best if you like having conversations with your cats. They are always talking, never shut up, but cute as hell! I really do hope you can get your two Meezers--they will bring you a lot of joy if you can put up with their constant opinions.

I have worked in Rescue and now have a regular ole Moggy--named Mia or Meezy. She has her own way of talking and she talks a lot and she is jus a little alley cat with a lot of ailments, LOL!

That is so cute, TM

My love for Siamese comes from my childhood... more complicated story than what I will write here, but my mom decided to get a meezer when I was ~4. And another one a year later. So I grew up with them. This was a long time ago, they were both the more classic types, two seal points, with the "applehead" and more full body. Our family had all sorts of different relationships with these two cats. I never witnessed them die because I moved out of the family home at ~18... And have never owned a cat since, mostly due to my traveling all over the map.

But I've been so much into the thought of living with meezers again in the past ~2-3 years! I did not do it first because I was a drunk living in an apartment that did not allow pets. But my NYC place now can welcome them. Hence the decisions.

Yes I LOVE the interaction and the "conversation". A main reason why I am into this breed... and, well, I am not averse to beauty either. Right now what I fancy is a pair of blue and seal point, but I would give my heart to two blues (like in the video) as well without hesitation. And yes you can call me a bit of fashionista here

People like you who provide a safe and loving home to rescue cats are great souls.

Glad your kitty liked the video!!

Mine is a picture I found that is supposed to depict bipolar disorder. Tho I prefer to call it by the old term of manic depressive. I think "bipolar" sounds like a magnet, lol.
