Here's a pic of my Greta, Chihuahua mix. She thinks she's Cujo and she hates strangers. She had a background of abuse and neglect. She loves me tho.

Newest foster

Her name is Shadow. A basset hound. An owner surrendered her to our canine rescue group. She 5 1/2 years old and despite the chilled-out demeanor she shows in the photo, she's a big, playful clown.

Carl, I too am involved with rescue and foster. Such a rewarding experience. Our newfoundland foster pup, leaves for her forever home Sunday. We've fostered her through heart surgery and to good health. I will miss her, but she is going to a wonderful family!

Article from PBS Nova show about dogs' noses and their olfactory ability. Astounding!

Latest Foster

Turned into Animal Control by his owners after 8 years. Who does that to a pet? Anyway, our group pulled him and I'm fostering. His name is Gus.

This thread used to be so active...anyway, we still have Gus (see above) and we just got another foster, Reba, a hound. The picture is old. We took her from another foster family because they let her get up to 80 pounds. Our group is supposed to save dogs, not feed them to death. So she's part of my pack now, on restricted calories and getting walked.

I am sad to say I lost my little Greta yesterday when she ran out in the street. Today I went to our humane society and adopted a lovely female beagle mix named Billie Jean. She is sweet and smart and helps ease the ache I feel for Greta's loss. Here she is.

My heart breaks for you least. Keeping you in my thoughts during your grieving process. I lost my Siamese Cat in a similar accident and over ten years later still miss Sasha sometimes.

Here is Zero doing a down stay while my vitals were taken at my last Doctor's visit. He actually had sat on his blanket under my chair and fallen asleep. These last two years my life has turned from being controlled by my Huntington's Disease to me taking my life by the horns. A good portion of this is the ability of my service dog to alert me to my impending anxiety before I feel it coming on. This way I can treat it and enjoy life outside my home. For example, before I would have to study in my room. Now I download my books and course readings and take them to the beach. I've even gone to see several movies, something I hadn't been able to do without my anxiety causing blackouts. My doctor's appointments are now routine instead of something I fear days ahead of time. The day this photo was taken I had run a number of errands and then window shopping afterwards. Recently I blew out my knee nod had trouble reaching for my naproxen, so today I'm starting on medication retrieval. Yes I brag a lot about him, I think he deserves his accolades!
