"Mentions"

I see in my profile that I have a "Mentions" tab, but I'm not sure how to use that function on SR? The other two forums I post on use the "@" symbol to mention someone, but it doesn't seem to work here.

Thanks!

I'd never noticed it until you pointed it out. I have no idea what it does.

I also notice not everyone has 'mentions' in their profile. What is their purpose and how are they used?
