Day 3 no meds

I'm on day three, no painpills, It's not the worst withdrawal I've ever been through, but I feel pretty sick and am having alot of anxiety.

I desperately want to get recovery, so I don't have to go through this again. I have a sponsor and have been attending meetings.

JULIA...listen very carefully. After alcohol, withdrawal from prescription medication is the most deadly. The combination of the two is by far the worst. I strongly suggest you go to your nearest emergency room or call 911 NOW. Your heart, liver or kidneys can fail without any warning, your blood pressure can go through the roof....We DO NOT HAVE TO BE HEROES...please get medical help now.

Why is withdrawal from prescription (pain meds) one of the worst. (I don't drink). I've never heard this before, I'm detoxing off of ten to fifteen pain pills (i.e., vicoprofen, darvon) per day.

I've detoxed before at home, and I've detoxed in a hospital based detox center.

You've really scared me with what you said. I'm not having that many withdrawal symptoms. Just some nausea and anxiety. No shaking, or skin crawling, or feeling bad enough that I need to go the hospital.

Julia, I would agree with Jon. Anytime you are taking a "variety" of meds as you have been, when you suddenly stop taking these its putting your system into shock. You already said you have been having a lot of anxiety, this alone would need to be treated. I know you said you have done this before on your own but it sounds to me like you really want to try to stop using so why put your health at risk. What harm would it do for you to see a Doctor. Jon knows what hes talking about and as you know I was concerned after the first post from you. Everyone only wants whats best for you. Please let us know.

I was referring mainly to Julias original post on July 16 whre she lists 4 different pain meds that she abuses. I did read it correctly. My information is correct based on what she wrote. I spend way too much time in emergency rooms as it is (3 hours last night)and would rather be overly cautious with anybody detoxing from anything. The fact is that people die while detoxing. Every day. You would think they die from heroin detox but they usually don't. We just want to die it's so painful. As I stated befor the majority of detox deaths are alcohol and pill related. At day 3 chances are you're going to be ok, but if it was someone close to me, and any addict is, I would want them to see a doctor just to be safe. I hope you are well...

Well I took your advice and notified my DR. that I had relapsed. I left two mesages and never received a return phone call. I wasn't using that combination of drugs together. Those are just the different ones I have used at different times.

I'm starting to feel better this afternoon. I'm really surprised my Dr. did not return my call. He supervised my last detox, and is an "addiction specialist."

I really appreciate everyone's concern for my well being. I need all the help and support I can get.
