How do you teach the ones that know?

It is difficult to help those that know all the answers. Some people enter a rehab having been to 10 rehabs or more. They know all the one-liner-AA, and recovery slogans. It has been my experience not to try to teach them anything but better yet allow them to explain what they think they need to learn to stay sober and clean. Maybe I can get them to explain to me, or themselves, how they plan to stay clean, and what steps they need to take to be drug free. I try to lead them right into the "action" word. The the gig is up.

Who are you trying to teach? Are you a counselor? I wasn't sure.
I don't try and teach anyone like that anything, I either listen and hope to learn, or I just smile and nod..... :-) Not much else you can do until the student is willing to learn, I'd guess....???

Yes I run a rehab. I always like to teach those that want to learn. I don't have all the answers.
