rehab again!
rehab again!
So here I go again. I have been here before and did well but had a medical emergency less that a year ago and got readdicted. I'm leaving on saturday for a place i found on here. Ugh here I go again
Rehab. It was where I along with many who
went thru the experience and took what was
taught and applied it on a continuous bases
once I was released back in Aug. 1990.
Today, some 28 yrs sober and living a life
in recovery, I value that experience as a gift
and a new lease on life free from my addiction
to alcohol.
Once we receive the tools and knowledge of
our addiction and a recovery program, we continue
to incorporate them each and everyday moving
forward in life never letting go of those lifelines
that help us achieve health, happiness and honesty.
I never take my sobriety for granted because
ive seen too many folks that have had a taste
of recovery then return to insanity of addiction
with a notion they can drink or use without consequences
that follow.
Addiction is serious and absolutely dangerous
and it hasn't change nor will it ever unless it is
put to rest and kept there with living a continuous
program of recovery in place that is strong and solid
to with stand everyday life situations.
Wish you much success this go round.

I certainly had to go through treatment for my alcoholism and drug addiction.
But I did what they told me to do and refrained from what they told me not to do, and I've been clean and sober ever since.

Ugh so I was trying to get my dog in from the back yard on Valentine's day and I slipped on the ice and fell. It was pretty bad I broke 2 ribs and got 2 stitches on my elbow. I'm in a lot of pain and the dr offered me opiates but I said no. He said this is going to really hurt I'll put in the record if you call that the nurse can call in a script. I told him if I did take them I would just take all of them the first day and suffer after that . I'm proud of myself for not doing exactly that. Yea me.
Many a person doig the long haul rehab bit relapse.....then flows the guilt and shame..
so what I try to do now, is look back on all the crap, the damage I did- and get angry..a much better emotion than victim mode stuff..I did a rehab as well, quite aways back.
My prayers and support to you.

Thank you everybody, I'm really hurting right now but I know it will pass. The last thing I want to do is start this roller-coaster again. The Dr said "It's going to hurt like a bitch for about 10 days but you can do this". I am trying to keep this in mind. This is temporary I'm retired and dont need to work anymore so I can lay around all day till this passes. This to will pass
Oh and on a positive note it's keeping me from smoking because smoking makes me cough and coughing hurts bad. Plus my wife hates smoking so I have to go to the back yard like a criminal and it just hurts to much at this time.
Today is a little better. Thank you for the encouragement. I am using Kinesiology Tape for the pain and am surprised at how well it is working. Brings my pain from a 9 to a 6 which still sucks but its better for sure.
