Prescription Drug Abuse in the USA

"52 million people over the age of 12 have used prescription drugs non-medically in their lifetime.
6.1 million people have used prescription drugs non-medically in the last month.
The U.S. consumes 75 percent of the world's prescription drugs.
In 2010, enough prescription painkillers were prescribed to medicate each American adult every four hours for 1 month.
The number of prescription drug abusers in 2010 was 8.76 million.
More than half of prescription drugs are obtained for free from a friend or relative.
Most abused prescription drugs fall under 3 categories: Painkillers, Tranquilizers and Stimulants."
Oxycontin (Hydrocodone) is basically synthetic HEROIN and is the most abused drug in this country.

I urge anyone who takes ANY prescribed medication to lock it up so it is out of sight and not accessible. The medicine cabinet in your bathroom is not the place to store these drugs.
