Question Detox

Anyone know about Florida Detox? All I know is it's a 5-7 day inpatient medical detox.

What exactly would you like to know? My husband just came back from a rehab in Florida where he also did the detox. The detox was just the first thing he had to do before going into rehab.

They claim a 6 month clean rate that is not realistic (91%). They are not a regular detox, but a "rapid" detox which can be dangerous. They brag on their homepage that they gave a drug abuser adderall. I'd stay very far away from them if I was looking for a detox.

I'm with Alera. Rapid detox is quite controversial. Be very careful, ask questions.

I have heard nothing but negative stuff about it. Long and slow seems the way to go. IMO, the only true goal of ORT has got to be maintaining an addiction-free life. Too many seem to see the goal as getting off ORT, which has led to many a relapse. I've run into plenty of folks who seem to have a cavalier attitude, and think, "well, I could always start suboxone if I have trouble". That kind of thinking ignores the very real possibility that any relapse could be our last!

I skimmed their main page. What I came away with was that it's not the drugs that are our problem -- it's that we're on the wrong drugs. But that's okay. They'll make sure we get on the right ones.

Peace & Love,

Sorry I thought you meant any rehab in Florida. This must be something specific. Ignore my post please.

I know there is no such thing as a "quick fix", although I wish there were!!! I do plan on going into a 12 step program again after the detox. I just cant handle the long detox from benzos again. It's like I would be better off using but on the other hand I know they will eventually kill me.
Thanks for everyones advice I truly appreciate all of it!!! This site is a blessing!!!!!

IMO=In my opinion

ORT=Opiate Replacement Therapy

(Or DRT=Drug replacement therapy, or MMT=Methadone Maintenance Therapy)
