Recovery Tattoos!
Recovery Tattoos!
Alright folks. I am ready for my next tattoo. I am working way too hard these days. Over 60 hours a week! Am earning a decent amount of money and I'd like to spend about 100 bucks on a new tattoo. I'd like it to be something related to recovery. Anyone got ideas? Sites I can check out and get some ideas??? I have some thoughts, but open to many suggestions. I'd like to either get it on my upper arm or ankle.....
Might even go brave and get it on my wrist. LOL..
Thanks ya'll

I'm thinking about getting the verse out of the bible that relates to faith...
Hebrews 11:1 or just the word "Faith" on my wrist.
I've never had a tatoo, so I talked to the guy at his shop and he said that for a tatoo like I want, it would be good to put it on the under side of my left wrist, that way, if I wanted it not to show at times, my watch would cover it, or long sleeves.
I'm such a chicken to do it!

I have my first 6 or 7 picked out haha, none yet=) I don't want a butterfly, but I like the caterpillar/butterfly analogy for the change going on within me, so I might have to do something like that. I want "The giving tree" on my calf, so maybe I will put a moth emerging from a cocoon on one of the branches=)
But first I need the one in honor of my daughter, the one in honor of my lost almost-son, the 2 representing my gemini duel personalities, and the cash and balls to start=)

Me personally, I got a couple tats years ago, and always wanted to full sleeve my right arm leaving the left untouched, but then it became an in thing along with peicings, seems every one and thier mother have tats and piercings now, so I didnt get anymore and no longer wear any peicings.
But thats just me, if its popular I cant go along with it, I gotta go against the grain.

Thank you, everyone! I did finally settle on something. I got Serenity with a butterfly on top of the S. In 30 days I am going to go back and have it outlined in black light ink and have my clean date put on it.. Hadn't thought of it until now, but DUH, I should have my clean date put on it. Who would have thought I'd ever make it to almost 6 months without smoking crack? I never thought I could make it 6 days... WOW...
It amazes me. The novelty has worn off, but it's still just amazing. When I get some time, at home, I'll upload the pic I took from my phone camera and show it off.

OK, since you picked butterfly, here's why though you didn't know you knew it.:-)
The Butterfly
"The butterfly is ever more blessed than other creatures of flight.
Though all grace the heavens in the ecstasy of flight,
the butterfly has known the drudgery of the crawl
and the lonely confinement of the cocoon.
His new found freedom is richer,
wilder and more thrilling than life itself.
This is the beauty of recovery."

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.
For that and you I am truely grateful.
Ive gone thru many changes in my
life before, during and after alcohol.
The most recent is remarrying, learning
to ride a motorcycle and getting a
number of tattoos for the first time
in my life at 50.
My first tattoo was a large red heart
with 3 diifferent colored roses around
it with the words HARLEY DAVIDSON
written in the center on a ribbon.
Tribal looking.
The others consists of butterflies and
peach blossoms. A long stem with roses
and the word Lady Rider written in script.
On large red rose on my left top wrist.
A long stem w a bird and an another
one is an Eagle.
All are extremely feminine and vibrant
in colors.
At the moment Im working on the next
tattoo which id like to get on my up coming
sobriety anniversity.
I do lots of searching for the right tattoo
because it will be one that is permanant.
For me i wouldnt tattoo my sobriety date
on me only because it is just a one day at a
time program for me.
As long as i work my program like I
have for the past 18 yrs i am granted
a new date each day im sober.
However....i am not sitting high on
a pedistal because i am capable of
falling off just like anyone. BUT....
Just For Today I am sober with a
many ONE DAYS AT A TIME
collected together with that one
single sobriety date and for that
Im grateful.
I pray that I never have to change
it.

Quack, I'm glad you chose something you're so happy with.
I must be the most boring on the board! No tattoos and 1 piercing on each ear. Like an innocent!
SIU counts 2 ears and... ::gasp!:: Teehee.

I have "faith" tattooed on my lower back. I also have "Lord give me strength" in hebrew tattooed on my left hip. I have one more tattoo that has nothing to do with the others. It is two music notes combined to make a heart on my foot. I LOVE them all and I thought about them for a while. I made sure that I wanted them, because you cant just removed it tomorrow. Good Luck!
i would steer clear of tattooing your clean date, but that's just because of my friend matt who has his first date on his left tricep... which isn't his REAL date, but is a daily reminder of what he lost. so yeah.
i have an om on the inside of my left forearm. i got it on my first anniversary. i like it. my sponsee has "faith" on her right wrist. she likes it. tattoos are great.

I would steer clear of the date too, I had almost 8 yrs when I relapsed and I soooo thought I was over using.
But on a side note, there is a guy at our meetings who had a big old NA logo in the circle tatooed on the inside of his arm and he said when he relapsed every time he shot up he saw it......
blessings, Sheila

When I get to my year mark...I plan on tattooing the words "no regrets" on my body. Someone said it to me here...to wake up in the morning with no regrets...and it has come to be my little motto everytime I feel like picking up.

hello cq! i recently visited america and stayed with friends allover that i have met on sr! endzoner and i got matching butterflies done in sturgis.we were going to get them done in the black hills but the guy was full up.so driving through sturgis we found a plca called the cellar with a parking space right outside,,that was a sign for a start off! went inside and the tattooists friend had a "sober b&stard" patch on his vest,,we told him we were sober b!tches, turned out he had over 20 AA symbols on him,the tattooist that gave us our butterflies has 19 yrs sober,,we found this place totally by accident and i went allover america and of all the places! (i live in scotland) there is a picture on endzoners profile! its bit dark but our butterflies are purple and white,,and they symbolise the change! great thread, cant wait to see pics!
