Got my first AA service position!

Advance apologies to the AA purists. I have my first service position.

I am officially in charge of tea and coffee on Sundays! Not iced tea, this involves boiling water, tea bags and milk - quite an intricate process, the truth be told, lol!

And us Brits are fussy about our tea! No acceptance of sub-standard beverages here!

You know, lb, with the inverted pyramid structure of service in the fellowships, there is a case to be made that you just snagged the most important 'formal' service job in the fellowship! ;)

Peace & Love,
Sugah

P.S. Congrats!!

Awesome! I've never heard of milk in tea before, how does that work? I'm really curious because I drink lots of tea.

hahah great job LB. glad to see you are doing well and making progress in your recovery.

also wondering about this milk in tea concept?!?! never heard of that before here in the states.

tanyapmc 11-24-2008 07:17 AM

That is awesome LB!

:Dance7:Way to go Lostbutterfly!!!!

desertdonna 11-24-2008 07:22 AM

Congratulations, LB!

The only way I drink my tea is with milk and sugar. I'm having a cup right now.

Iced tea is a different matter, though. Strictly lemon and sugar in that case.

I'm glad to you're doing so well.

Hugs,
Donna

Great news Lost and you know, the tea commitment is really important. You must know how people demand this and that for their tea or coffee...and oh the demand for chocccy biccies!! It's a great commitment and you get to talk to everyone.

ex D-Boy 11-24-2008 07:24 AM

jeez, im really out of the loop on this tea with milk thing eh??? (going downstairs to see if i have some tea to try with milk in it now heheh)

madriley 11-24-2008 07:37 AM

Great job LB! You know I don't trust my tea making to just anyone either so that is a HUGE deal!!! Good for you!

Tea with milk? I am not from the UK I'm from the States but I've always had my tea like this: boil water, place tea bag in cup, put water in cup and let steep for 5 minutes, remove tea bag, add sugar and about 2 teaspoons of milk, enjoy!!! It just cools off the tea a bit and gives it a smoother taste. I do enjoy tea without milk sometimes but I prefer it with.

lostbutterfly 11-24-2008 08:05 AM

I just specified the milk thing coz, when I went to the States, Georgia, I had a minor panic attack in Walmart. An entire aisle of tea, and no normal tea bags. It was all for iced tea.

Thank goodness my mates mum is Scottish and she guided me to a tiny dusty corner where the normal tea bags were well hidden!

Thanx for the congrats, peeps. I take my new duties very seriously. I might even take biscuits!

woops 11-24-2008 08:52 AM

Biscuits? I reckon you could rustle up a wee tray of home-made shortbread!!!

Tea without milk? Strange concept? OK for Earl Grey or Camomile etc - but good old Assam morning breakfast tea? Naw - has to be milk (after the boiling water and not before!!!!). My husband likes honey in his tea too - instead of sugar. But I just like it without sugar - but good and strong...... how on earth would you wake up in the morning without that first cuppa??

Well done LB - you get to meet everyone while making the tea - you'll have lots of fun.

That is great Lost. Your post made me think of an Aunt I have who is from England. She introduced me to milk in Tea and was always such a tea purist. I can imagine folks in a meeting over there going on about tea. Over here we issue a warning to folks who bitch about the coffee in a meeting, if you don't like the coffe next week you can make it

Lily 11-24-2008 05:25 PM

Congrats!

I have never had milk in tea, only lemon. I am sure you will do an awesome job!

blessings, Sheila

sunflower1776 11-24-2008 07:11 PM

Congratulations LB!!!

lostbutterfly 11-25-2008 03:28 AM

There is many a meeting I have gone to only coz of the excellent cups of tea, lol!! Funny, it is always the meetings I don't want to go to that teach me the most.

Someone brings bars of chocolates to our meeting - not sure if biccy's would be spoiling them too much!
