Thank you Honeypig & Ann

You will love and not be loved back.
Give and not receive.
Help and be left helpless.
Teach and not be taught.
Forgive and be forgotten.
Trust and be doubted.
Pray and be cursed by others.
You will be unnoticed, unliked, unloved and unappreciated.
But NEVER EVER NEVER let anyone else stop you from being YOU.
Because YOU are the one stretching, growing and rising.
Never subtract the best of you to add to the worst of anyone else.

It's very thought provoking isn't it Ann.

" Forgiveness is the choice to see people as they are now. When we’re mad at
people, we’re angry because of something they said or did before this
moment. By letting go of the past, we make room for miracles to replace our
grievances."

This and this alone is true religion:
To serve thy brethren.

This is sin above all other sin:
To harm thy brethren.

In such faith is happiness.
In lack of it is misery and pain.

Blessed be he who swerveth not
aside from this straight path.

Blessed is he whose life is lived thus
ceaselessly in serving God.

Bearing others' burdens and so alone
is life, true life, to be attained.

Nothing is hard to him who,
casting self aside, thinks only this:

How may I serve my fellow man?

~tulsidas - 16th century
Translation by Mahatma Gandhi.

Silence

In the stillness of the morning,
while the world was still asleep,
the sun was hidden under cover
and silence was strong and deep.

I whispered a short prayer
with just a few choice words.
God was there in the silence,
and I knew my prayer was heard.

The restless night had been long,
and uncertainties filled my day.
Nothing calmed my restless heart,
so I knew I needed to pray.

In the silence God drew me close
until on His bosom I did lay,
and there we communed together.
No other word did I need to say.

I felt God's presence around me,
and my worries began to cease.
I gave the Father all my cares,
and He gave me His peace.

That was so special, Ann. Worry sucks the life out of us.
What a gorgeous picture - that beautiful glow.

Then a priestess said, "Speak to us of Prayer."

And he answered, saying:

You pray in your distress and in your need; would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance.

For what is prayer but the expansion of yourself into the living ether?

And if it is for your comfort to pour your darkness into space, it is also for your delight to pour forth the dawning of your heart.

And if you cannot but weep when your soul summons you to prayer, she should spur you again and yet again, though weeping, until you shall come laughing.

When you pray you rise to meet in the air those who are praying at that very hour, and whom save in prayer you may not meet.

Therefore let your visit to that temple invisible be for naught but ecstasy and sweet communion.

For if you should enter the temple for no other purpose than asking you shall not receive.

And if you should enter into it to humble yourself you shall not be lifted:

Or even if you should enter into it to beg for the good of others you shall not be heard.

It is enough that you enter the temple invisible.

I cannot teach you how to pray in words.

God listens not to your words save when He Himself utters them through your lips.

And I cannot teach you the prayer of the seas and the forests and the mountains.

But you who are born of the mountains and the forests and the seas can find their prayer in your heart,

And if you but listen in the stillness of the night you shall hear them saying in silence,

"Our God, who art our winged self, it is thy will in us that willeth.

It is thy desire in us that desireth.

It is thy urge in us that would turn our nights, which are thine, into days which are thine also.

We cannot ask thee for aught, for thou knowest our needs before they are born in us:

Thou art our need; and in giving us more of thyself thou givest us all."

~Prayer XXIII

Daisy, I love these each morning. Walking away from an argument is something I know to do...and yet...actually doing it takes practice. I tell myself "do NOT engage! do NOT engage!" Now I just need to remember my mantra.

From my treasures...

Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart
and try to love the questions themselves ...
Don't search for the answers,
which could not be given to you now,
because you would not be able to live them.
And the point is, to live everything.
Live the questions now.
Perhaps then, someday far in the future,
you will gradually, without even noticing it,
live your way into the answer.

Even though we walk away Ann, sometimes we need a little back up reminder. I'm glad you like my posts, thank you.

I love the prayer from your treasures. I am patient most of the time but sometimes I do search for answers. I need to work on that.

All the prayers & thoughts are wonderful - I take little bits of each & put them to use. I know I need to get stronger & more confident. A little late in the game, but I am learning.
