I love the poem that that quote comes from, Ann. I first read it when I was much younger and didn't really understand most of it. As the years go by, experience allows me to understand it more deeply and fully. Really a wonderful piece of writing...

Good morning Lovelies, I hope you're well and I wish you all a better day than yesterday. xx

It’s oversimplified to say ‘Happiness is a choice.’
Some people are struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other conditions that make it challenging to find peace and joy.
But ‘challenging’ doesn’t mean impossible.
It’s more accurate to say, ‘Happiness takes lots of choices that are sometimes hard to make.’
Like: the choice to accept ourselves and our struggles, the choice to take responsibility for getting help, and the choice to do the things that are good for us, even when—especially when—we feel like giving up.

This is solid gold, Daisy.

As I grow older and learn more, I understand more too.

PROMISE YOURSELF

To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.

To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

the optimist creed - christian d. larson - 1912

The other day when I was shopping, I made a point of smiling at little children in strollers, mostly bored children or curiously looking around. I gave them my biggest smile and twinkled my eyes and I noticed that without exception, each one of them smiled back. Some were shy and some bubbled with joy, but each one returned the smile joyfully.

It impressed me that one smile can be contagious. One smile can lift a spirit if only for a few seconds.

I need to smile more, I need to give them away freely and spark some joy. Some will think I have gone mad....but that too may make them smile for just a moment.

Courage doesn't always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
at the end of the day, saying,
"I will try again tomorrow."

Good morning lovelies, I'm wishing you all a good Tuesday.

There are things that we don't want to happen but have to accept,
things we don't want to know but have to learn,
people we can't live without but have to let go.
