From my treasures...

Joseph Folliet
1903 – 1972
The Small Beautitudes

Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves;
they will have no end of fun.

Blessed are those who can tell a mountain from a molehill;
they will be saved a lot of bother.

Blessed are those who know how to relax
without looking for excuses;
they are on their way to becoming wise.

Blessed are those who are sane enough
not to take themselves too seriously;
they will be valued most by those about them.

Happy are you if you can take small things seriously
and face serious things calmly;
you will go far in life.

Happy are you if you can appreciate a smile and forget a frown;
you will walk on the sunny side of the street.

Happy are you if you can be kind in
understanding the attitudes of others
even when the signs are unfavourable;
you may be taken for a fool, but this is the price of charity.

Blessed are those who think before acting and pray before thinking;
they will avoid many blunders.

Happy are you if you know how to hold your tongue and smile,
even when people interrupt and contradict you or tread on your toes;
the Gospel has begun to seep into your heart.

Above all,
blessed are you who recognize the Lord in all whom you meet;
the light of truth shines in your life
for you have found true wisdom.

That one is absolutely perfect for us.

Another treasure...I'm not being lazy, I just love to dust these off now and then. Enjoy.

A Flame born of Darkness
~Unknown

A candle burns

Within the fragile mystery of life

Its flame flickering

In a vortex of emotion and thought

Its warm glow a beacon

Calling forth those lost to the darkness

Come to me

I am but a lone candle

My flame but a finite spark of hope

But I burn for you

Stagger through the despair

And the futile cloying doubt

Crawl if you have to

And stand by my side

Two candles we shall be

Two flames shivering in the gloom

But a little brighter we grow

And darkness slips further into itself

For we are sentinels

Standing vigil in a mantle of warmth

Waiting

For those lost within their self made armour of shadow and self pity

Come to us

And rekindle your Spirit

Shed your withered shell

For we are of the Light

And darkness is of our own design

Our own making

All it takes is one step forward

One glimmer of hope

And the Soul shall shine for all

I am but a solitary candle

Come to me

Shine

May all I say and all I think
be in harmony with thee,
God within me,
God beyond me,
maker of the trees.

On my recent trip to Vancouver Island, I was surprised and delighted to see how very tall the trees were, how abundant and how even in what can be a colder climate, rain forests are abundant where trees are covered with moss and ferns line the forest floor. The picture above is one of the trails at Elk Falls, mid island. There is peace on that trail, and quietude and God.

A Prayer in Spring
Robert Frost, 1874 - 1963

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.

It Takes Time To Heal
Ted Hibbard

It takes time to heal.

Build a bridge
from now to tomorrow.
Sink the piers
deep into the Earth.
Pour in concrete
day by day,
a little at a time,
and let it set.

It takes time to heal.

It may feel very awkward,
as if you're making empty promises,
as if you're simply spanning empty space.

But someday, somehow, somewhere,
you'll find yourself
upon a brand new shore,
glancing back at the bridge
which you alone have built.

It takes time to heal.

I love it!!! Check your lawn for bunny nests, they dig a shallow hole and have their babies and then cover the hole with loose grass or sticks. I LOVE bunnies!
