Music is life!
Lately I've been getting into Punk again, I grew up on Blink 182 and they were "life-changing" for me. Blink 182, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Bowling for Soup, New Found Glory, Sum 41, it all pops up on the radio station I play. It's stuff I can actually sing along with, the rock/metal is hard to sing to.
well here's the thing when I was drinking every night i'll tell you I listened to some very depressing **** lol...and in the beginning when I quit the alcohol I couldn't listen to music for the first couple weeks..NOW i'm able to listen to just about anything so the answer is YES, NORMAL for sure lol

I think it is normal, I used to always love Boulevard of broken dreams by green day, but it was always the one I listened to when I'd hit the drink hard. I can't now listen to it, as it always makes me feel like attacking the booze again, big time!
