You are more then that voice in ur head that tells u that u need the vodka. u can do it u can fight the urge. U reached out first before doing anything that's amazing and so much stronger then I know I could ever be. U have so much strength in u don't give in or give up

You can do this! Tell the vodka and the voice in your head to shut the F up and to leave you alone. Your husband loves and needs you more than the vodka ever will. Can you pour it out and go to bed?

Welcome back MrsLamp - regular support made all the difference for me. Why not become a regular poster here?

Thanks for replies much appreciated. I've poured the vodka out and also beers that hubby is too sick to drink. no alcohol in house, I'll be going nuts later for drink but Im prepared for that. enough is enough, life is very difficult just now but I know drink is making the days worse.

it sounds like you and your husband are both at a real challenging point with alcohol.

though it will be tremendously difficult, you CAN change and get free of this. That change has to start with a choice to be sober and immediate actions to support that choice.

It sounds like a detox / rehab might be the best first step.... but being here, seeking support, reaching out is great. you can change your life for the better.

It's not the thoughts of drinking that gets you drunk. It's the drinking. Thoughts are just that...thoughts. They come and they go without consequence. It's the acting on the irrational thoughts that cause us and others harm.

Not sure where that came from.
