OK I think I've figured it out.
This is from a Buddhist temple up in the mountains in Kyoto. It was built in 1291. Canada just doesn't have this kind of history at all.
And this is from the zen garden at the same temple. I could have hung out in that garden for days....

I copy/pasted the URL and looked at them, beautiful!

These are from the Shogun palace. We weren't allowed photo's of inside the palace. There's so much attention to detail. Everything is on purpose, they have gardeners who groom the moss, it all by design.

The enchanted rainforests. Some of the cedar trees are thousands of years old. They were worshiped as gods, and they kind of are when they are that ancient. They can regenerate, so some of them are 3rd and 4th generation. This hike was the highlight of the trip for me even though is poured rain on us lol

An anatomically correct statue of the traditional way to apologize in Japan.
JK! I have no idea?
This is a Love Hotel! The homes are often multi-generational and parents share a room with their young children.... so they go to these hotels to get their groove on! My BF and I stayed in this particular one. I just had to see it for myself! It was a lot of fun! An adults playground lol
Here's a video about them. Honestly it was the best hotel we stayed in!

.
Fab Pix, and some fine memories were induced from when I was there.
I likened being there to opening a Chinese-style Box. Inside that is another Box. And, so on. For me, the Cultural mysteries - and subsequent understanding - was a continuing chain of epiphanies.

Awesome photos, BJ, thank you!
My mind is still boggling with the traditional apology pose and the Love Hotel! LOL. It’s amazing the diversity of culture here on planet Earth.
You’re quite the photographer, if you ever visit the United Kingdom, I can point you in the direction of some awesome photogenic places.
