approaching 90 days

87 days today, hope to quit smoking on day 90. Need to apply what I've learned so far to other bad habits.

Congratulations, celandra. That is a serious accomplishment you have, so congratulations to you. I felt around that time that since I was successful at the sobriety thing where so many appear to struggle, that I could accomplish all sorts of things. And I was able to use what I had learned and apply it to other aspects of self improvement.

I have a good feeling that you will be able to do exactly the same thing yourself. It's exciting, it's scary, it's exhilarating. Keep your eye on the prize and never look back, and it will be yours. Onward!

Well done celandra! I have no doubt you'll quit smoking just as you've quit drinking! Once you've tasted freedom there's no going back!
Oh...and freshstart forgot to mention that you are officially a badass now! Congrats!!

A fantastic achievement. Be careful once giving up smoking. If you feel your urges to drink return, give it a bit longer because sobriety is super important.

I'm grateful for this "badass" group.

Can you please tell secular members how you did it?

celandra1 02-20-2016 12:27 PM

James, I've been exploring various tools. This website as well as mentalhelp.net, free style recovery and SMART have been great. Of course, there are others too. Tried AA but felt like a fish out of water there, won't go back. Been meditating, exercising. Started volunteering at the local food bank and senior center. Was on antabuse the first month. These first few months have involved a lot of research finding out what is best for me. I'm starting to get to a place where I try not to dwell on it as much and just be me. Of course, 90 days is a relatively short time frame and I know I'm not out of the woods yet. Hang in there everyone.
