Deciders

It seems to me that some people are better at making decisions than others. I can't imagine deciding to have a tatoo, because I don't trust that what I like now is what I am going to like 5 minute in the future.

I wonder if different recovery approaches suit people based on whether they are the decision making type or the not decision making type.

I've seen a few in here not being able to decide what kind of recovery they should try . Not really sure how someone can get the help they need thinking that way .

Ultimately there is only one method. Not ingesting intoxicants. The rest is just fluff to ease the transition. So the choice is to live sober or not to. But, "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." (Rush)

Good night

There are people who can pick a program and trust that it is going to be the right approach in the future. Maybe that is the decision making type. And there are people who look for recovery anywhere regardless of the program. Maybe that is not the decision making type.

Nancy Reagan's approach was "just say no". Lifering's approach is to empower your sober self. The first approach is a decision, the second is less of a decision.

I don't know for sure either but I feel the same about tatoos! What would still look good when I'm sixty?:lmao

Making a decision is easy. Managing the implementation of that decision is what trips people up.

It depends on your type of alcoholism, and your personality. Some people try many methods before something clicks; or maybe it doesn't matter how you go about it if you want it badly enough.
