Once in a great while, my Elapsed Time Sober pops into my Head at random. No big deal, since my Big Plan is my permanent reference point.

'BC' = 'Before Clarity'. "AD' = 'After Drinking'.

I shifted Drinking more/again into the same Mental/Ethical Compartment as stealing Money from a Friend's House just because he left his Wallet on the Table. Kicking the Dog because I'm mad. Hitting my Wife. Cheating on my Taxes. Ask about anyone if these Behaviors are likely to happen imminently in their Lives? I can answer an unwavering 'No' to that question. I can provide the same unwavering answer of 'No' to the question 'Will I Drink Again'? We all have things we just don't do. Add Drinking to that non-negotiable List. I used to have Asthma. Now, I don't. I don't live Life constantly thinking 'I used to have Asthma'. Likewise, I used to Drink.

Once in a while, I recall the awful Physical Symptoms. The time-consuming Liquor purchasing, and Bottle hiding. All the cancelled Plans. Everyone here knows the Fire Drill. Fact is, for me, the entire Mindset that 'I'm one Drink away from oblivion', or all this consternation over 'that first Drink', seems undercutting. And, a waste of energy. Move on down the Road of Life. Sober.

I sweat 'a first Drink' about like I sweat getting hit by a Meteorite. It's over. I'm done. I've better things to think about. This is the point I hope others get to via whatever means work for them.

Hey Stewart!

Wow. I haven't been here in a long time. I am currently apparently on the mobile version so I can't see signature lines.

I don't know for some reason I thought you already were practicing a big plan or rather not practicing and had made your big plan.

Anyway congratulations I don't even remember exactly when I quit drinking is just know it was the night I joined here. Fresh start and soberlicious shared about the big plan as well as just deciding not to drink ever again and it made so much sense. I had had many years of not drinking before picking up and drinking for 5 years when I stumbled upon this group. Anyway it's good to sign on and see your name. I'm going to have to get used to this mobile application or grab my iPad so I can all the content I normally used to.

Odd, but for some reason when I have this a mobile app I thought it was saying this thread was started by Stewart but I now see it was actually started by Toadie. So, hi to you I do not believe I've been troduced myself and I have not been around for quite some time. I hope to be around a little bit more from time to time. Take care.

Cool

For you, Stewart888, and for anyone else on here who may be curious for themselves.

You said, "...If fact took my year down and now only have the month and day...Because it has been a while I have honestly forgot if it was 2012 or 2013..."

Well, your profile here states your sobriety date as 2 October 2012. This probably correct since you joined SR in October of 2012, unless you were planning on quitting in a year from when you joined here, but typed 2012 I error...........somehow I kinda doubt that......

You also said, "...I guess if I really wanted to know I could go back to old posts...but not counting..."

No need to go back and count. There's a 'Sobriety Calculator' here on SR, for anyone who might be interested....................:

Sobriety Calculator - SoberRecovery.com

Using your sobriety date, as of today, you have 1094 days, and tomorrow you'll have 3 years....whooo doggie!

The Plan

Hi - I have been following this thread for awhile and have come to know in my heart that Rational Recovery is the only way for me. I have stopped drinking and will never pick up again. Thank you for helping me along this path.

Feeling tired, but yet strong today. Loved listening to the wind last night and really hearing it...

Have you gone for a walk and noticed how sharp and in focus the leaves and grass are? One of my favorite benefits!

Great post MIR, and so true. Whatever the path, the destination is the same.
