How to deal with spouse in social situations?

I am really not going to go into any real detail but I ruined my bf's xmas and his new years eve party he loves to go to with friends. I just want to know if anyone of you have been successfully stayed sober and was able to go out with your spouses to parties while almost everyone else was drinking. I know I have a serious problem and I need to stop. I just don't know how to deal with all his friends sober. He enjoys and looks forward to these parties. These are the only times that he drinks. Has anyone else dealt with this?

I'm not quite there yet in my sobriety but I can relate to feeling like I ruined x-mas... I got black out drunk at the in-laws... I wasn't the only one drinking and eating pot brownies but I was horrified with myself in the morning and haven't drank since. I know for me that I probably could go out with other drinkers but I wouldn't want to put myself through it. I don't like other drunks when I'm sober. If you have made a decision to not drink then maybe being around it just isn't for you anymore and he will have to learn to fly solo when he wants to go out partying.

But there are people on here with more sobriety than I who could probably give you better advice.

All the best.
