What to expect?
 

Yo, my s.o.s. group only meets once a week, and did not get to meet last night. I kind of want to talk etc. so I will be going to my first a.a. Meeting tonight. I understand the religious element, and I can get around that, but not sure what exactly goes on. It's in a couple hours so I figured I would find out what I can from you fine folk. :wild

A good place for a post like this one is the 12 step support forum, and you can get some actual direct discussion. In this forum, discussion of these topics is verboten. For my part, I found generous and helpful people at the meetings I attended, and I expect that would likely be your experience too.

If you want to get a feeling for the environment, the 12 Step Support forum is the place to go. Read some of the longer threads for a better understanding.
