Avrt

I love the simplicity of AVRT. Hoping to get to a SMART meeting this afternoon. My emotions are all out of whack and drinking thoughts are coming in thick and fast and the beast is loving it.
Can anyone share their thoughs and or experiences on AVRT and SMART??

Congratulations, Pups. There are lots of thoughts and experiences here for you to read right on this page! The AVRT Discussion thread might be the most extensive resource on the topic outside of the RR web site, with something like 2500 posts. I have described my own experience in 'AVRT Explained', and my posts all have something to do with self empowerment, cost benefit analysis, recognition / separation / acceptance, mindfulness and other AVRT and SMART - type stuff.

I hope you share your journey with SR here, every voice has the power to help another who is struggling with their own decision to make a Big Plan. Onward with your badass self!

I have read both Rational Recovery (AVRT) and the SMART Recovery Handbook and I have found the tools provided in the SMART Recovery Handbook to be most helpful.
If you are struggling with cravings the Handbook provides several effective ways of recognizing and dealing with them. SMART goes well beyond dealing with cravings and helps the practitioner lead a more balanced life.
