I don't drink.


I find both myself and my beast act accordingly when I put it this way. Feels even more sure and non-negotiable than I will never...

I don't. Period.

That is solid. No wiggle room there at all.

For the newcomers to AVRT, one of the reasons we make this BigPlan with zero room for misunderstanding and prevarication, is that by doing so we make the beast VERY uncomfortable. It whines, and squirms and complains, and when it does this, that is the time to just sit quietly with it and observe with full awareness. That is the AV talking, not you, and when you feel this way again, you will recognize it easily and clearly. "That was IT right there! It was not ME with those thoughts, that was IT, and I know this because I made that solemn vow, that Big Plan."

I like that phrase too (I don't drink). I say it to myself too. Sometimes I use, "I don't drink no matter what", which might be from SMART. I do not know where I first heard it.

Here's another variation - 'I will never now drink'. This brings a mindful awareness to the present moment, the only time when things happen and the only time which we control.
