Dealing with Loss Today our 13 year old family dog needed to be put down. I'm just so sad. I can't stop thinking about getting drunk or high. It just seems so appropriate. :-( |
I am sorry for your loss. We had to put down one of our dogs about 5 weeks ago. She had inoperable bone cancer and was starting to drag that leg around like an anchor. I picked up her ashes 2 days later and drove to the liquor store, went home and got drunk. In retrospect, she thought the world of me, and her memory deserved better. |
That is just so sad :( picking up the ashes is like the reality that you will never see them again. |
Magnolia, so sorry for your loss. I've had to put down several of my beloved fur companions. I've done it before I got sober and got drunk as a way to handle it. I've done it while sober. Drinking didn't bring my dog back. Being drunk really didn't make me grieve their loss any less. It's just as hard saying goodbye to a pet sober. The difference was, I wasn't miserable and shameful about my drinking. I've learned it is okay to be sad and grieve for a pet. I don't need alcohol to handle it. Be the sober, human companion your dog loved. |
Oh that is terrible, but as Nonsensical said your dogs memory deserves better. Maybe with the money you would spend on alcohol you could donate it to your local animal shelter in honor of your dog. Again, very sorry for your loss, take care and remember the good. |
RIP... Amazing how they become part of our Lives/Family. |
so sorry magnolia, my heart goes out to you hugs |
So sorry, Magnolia, for what you are going through. I know how painful it can be. Try your best to be kind to yourself. When you are feeling self-compassion it is more difficult to pick up a substance again. If you can tolerate the pain it may pass more quickly but whatever you do, don't abandon yourself by feeling less than kind toward yourself. Thinking of you...... |
