SMART meeting
 

I have plans to go to my first smart meeting in NYC Saturday. Has anyone been to a standard meeting? Can you share what to expect?

I joined the forum on the smart site and asked the same questions.

Kinda feel like I am cheating on SR. But there is never a replacement for a first love!

You are so fortunate. The NYC meetings are awesome! There's a huge core of experienced facilitators there who run the most excellent meetings.

You are not cheating on SR, by the way, although I understand why you'd feel that way...SR is great.

I am excited! The meeting is at 11 Saturday. I have an email in to see if its still on with the weather.

I like the fact you don't have to participate if you don't want to. That's why I can get my partner to go. Lol

There is a lot of reading to do so I will take my time and follow the clearly laid out map they provide.

Try as I might the other "program" is still making me too uncomfortable with so many things. I am a little afraid to abandon any thing right now so I will start smart and see what feels right.

I've been to a few Smart Meetings, it was a couple years ago though. I did get the Smart Recovery members manual at the time. It is very helpful and I refer to it often. It will be great if your partner goes, postive thoughts coming your direction.

Good Luck at the meeting. I have never been to one in person, but i have participated in online meetings from SMART that happen weekly for family., They are very helpful, and have also provide a lot of encouragement & positivity for me.

That's great to know. I am not able to go to the love meeting since its on 29th and that's a hard hit area of the city. I will go next week.

But attending my first online meeting today.

Working on my CBA as well.

Lots to learn with this. I like the approach very much.
