I will not drink today because drinking makes me weak and into someone I do not recognize nor like. I am angry, hateful, and needy while drunk. Sober, I am strong, loving, and much more calm.

This is why I won't drink today either, or tomorrow. It makes me completely unproductive and my house is a mess and I want to take a walk with my baby tomorrow. All I did today was lay around the house, hungover. I won't drink today because when I look at my husband and daughter, I think of how devastated I would be to lose them.

I don't want to be a useless zombie whose only focus is getting more toxic vodka into my body. I am alive and well today, relatively happy and can enjoy the simple little things that make life worth living. What an incredible contrast between the nightmare that was my drinking and the ease and satisfaction that is my life now. I have run out of reasons to drink. It never worked and it never will.

I will not drink/drug today because I have no desire to handicap myself. I like waking up without the feeling without having a hangover.

I will not drink and/or drug today because I like myself again and do not have to self-harm to drown thoughts and emotions. I have the power to overcome any obstacle to maintaining stable sobriety. There is a deep well of strength within that I can draw upon to help myself when the going gets rough. Life is manageable no matter what happens.
