Hi, I'm here

I'm a binge drinker and I want to quit drinking. Not interested in AA. People have suggested I check out AVRT and this forum, so here I am.

Ironically, my mom is a pastor.

Welcome. I'm sure others will chime in soon.

Yeah. My sister is a pastor. I was raised Catholic. The God thing just doesn't work for me. Neither does group therapy.

Be a rebel and an activist. Make being a non-drinker part of who you are. Eventually, try to help others understand why that can be done. Passive acceptance, powerless, etc. Nope. Not for me.

Seared-There are 3 AVRT threads (part 1-3) on this forum. It may be helpful for you to read through the threads since it helped me get a general understanding of AVRT and there may be answers to some of your questions there. I just discovered this approach a few day ago.

I second FT on all counts except I don't have a sister that's a pastor. lol I preferred to throw out the group therapy and add in personal responsibility...it's been much better for me. :)
