Where has your moderator been?

I want to thank the other moderators and forum leaders for helping me here the last few months.

Out of no-where my 62 year old mother had some type of medical incident at the rest home. She says she went into a coma, they say she threw up twice, her friend said a crash cart was called. This was five months ago. Since then, my mother's memory has gone rapidity downhill. She is no longer oriented to anything but self. Every day I can see the difference in her mental state.

Most likely she is suffering from PICS, a rapidly moving frontal lobe dementia. For her sake, I hope this is the case. She's at the point now where she is easily agitated. She thinks her best friend is her deceased mother, and doesn't know where she is located anymore.

Five months ago, she read The Garden of Good and Evil, and we discussed it in depth. I'm at the point now where I just want her to pass as her parents both did, quickly and easily, when they were ready.

So anyway, thank you all here in Secular for understanding my absence. If I hear more, I'll pass it on.

Sending you and your family healing thoughts (and secular prayers?). I hope you can get lots of support through this. It sounds so hard. Be gentle with yourself.

Thank you all for your thoughts.

Tomorrow I am starting the process of being responsible for her legal, medical, and financial issues. Its going to be hard to see that on paper, if that makes sense. This won't take much time, may even wrap up the same day, but its hard on me to see my mother in that condition where she can't do these things after being on top of it for so many years. Thank goodness for my sobriety or I'd be a total mess right now.

My mother is now in the process of going over to the other side. She got pneumonia and has chosen to withhold all medical care outside of comfort care. Thoughts for an easy passage would be appreciated.

I'm so sorry, but her pain will be over soon and she will be in peace. I watched my mother succomb to advancing dementia coupled wit hbone cancer for over 2 years. it wasn't pretty.

My mother Penny passed away on Tuesday, the 11th. She was 65. She died 12 hours after she was released from the hospital into hospice. She went while asleep at 8:10 am at peace. Thoughts would be appreciated.

She is at peace now and is no longer suffering. My dad's passing was one of the most painful things that I have gone through. His body failed him years before he finally passed so I took comfort in knowing that he was no longer suffering.

May you and your family find comfort at this time.

Your doing the best thing you can do by posting and reaching out for help that shows real growth and recovery on your part.

I lost my mom on 6/6/09 so I know the pain of losing a loved one and it will just take time.

I tried really hard not to isolate so my hope and prayers for you is that you continue to share through this painful process.

Peace and comfort to you & your family
