"The Art of AVRT" - has anyone read it?
Thanks so much for the review of the new book John. I've was just rereading his 2nd book yesterday - mainly the AVRT parts. I have never been to AA and have been doing my own "recovery" using AVRT. I don't think I could ever be comfortable at an AA meeting/setting because I do not think I am powerless over alcohol. Once I consume alcohol - maybe, but not before.
Anyone see Craig Ferguson when he talks about his drinking problem? it's on Youtube. He's hilarious. He's been sober for 15 years and he says "I don't have a drinking problem, but, I can get one if I drink."
I know my addictive voice wants me to drink and so far I've been keeping it at bay. I've had several opportunities where drinking was around and I simply told my beast (I call it Hairy) that today was not the day. Kind of like telling a small child...NOPE, you cannot have that candy. I in no way felt powerless - in fact, I felt empowered.
