Welcome! I'm also an atheist. Good luck, glad you're here.

JaneDoe, you have come to the right place if you are looking for support in your quest to get and stay sober. As for the ghosts and fairies, people genuinely want to help you, and want to share their experience and what has worked for them. They might even get a little huffy if their advice isn't taken to heart - that seems to be a common part of human nature.

So, for some secular support, here is what I have to offer you. My experience was that I found it impossible to cut down on my alcohol consumption, to control it. Setting myself a ration or a limit became a miserable exercise in obsession, or one of failure, one or the other. So I quit, I stopped drinking at 9:40 one Monday morning and that worked.

Now is a good time for you to do that too. Keep posting.

Welcome JaneDoe86. I'm your forum leader here. Lately I lost my mother which caused me to get out of the important habit of posting here regularly. I'm adding it back to my program.
