But I don't want to clean my room.

Bamboozle 05-16-2009 05:36 PM

Or is this about something else? :)

Zencat 05-16-2009 06:55 PM

I'll do my best...and if I could be able to know what I'm supposed to be doing...I'll try to do better.

Dancing Marmite http://i37.tinypic.com/r715oi.gif sez its cool.

I need to update my CBA and begin to carry it around again to add to it.

That is my assignment, and I want to finish it in three days. I'll be using the New England Regions Facilitators Handout. As soon as I get some good sleep I'll be posting it here for feedback on a new thread.

Great thread Ananda!

Bamboozle 05-16-2009 11:15 PM

Anyone have any suggestions for me? I could use some.

Gypsy Feet 05-16-2009 11:29 PM

I don't know what type of assignment you are interested in, but I would enjoy doing a CBA with another SR member. We could discuss them and even encourage each other.

Hello! :wavey:

I'm printing out the pages right now. I'll probably do a post later today/tonight.

Ananda 05-17-2009 08:41 AM

ok...my assignment...and i will express this secularly as i can.....

I've talked to my mentor and i will be reviewing again exactly how my alchoholism happened for me, the process i went through to get to sobriety in my life. I will also look at some other behaviors that found myself stuck in that are keeping me from living the life i could

this one will take some time....but i've made the phone call to get started....and my brain is already spinning on it.

Four Questions About my Addiction

1.) What do I enjoy about my addiction…what does it do for me?

- I like getting buzzed/drunk…it feels good
- When I’m messed up, I feel happy
- When I’m messed up, my problems do not bother me
- When I’m messed up, I can think about whatever I want and not get upset
- I like the way alcohol tastes
- Drinking guaranteed a hard sleep for a few hours in a row
- Drinking calmed me down
- Drinking was a fun escape. When I would play video games I’d become totally immersed
- Anytime I was upset, booze was the only thing I could depend on to pull me out of it

2.) What do I hate about my addiction…what does it do to me?

- Upset stomach/intestines nearly all the time
- Yellow bowel movements consistently
- Insomnia. I would only get a few hours of sleep a day
- I never had time to do anything else…no art…never found a better job
- Didn’t care about doing anything else
- At least six years of my life is gone to drinking
- I’m living at home with my parents because I am not responsible enough for myself due to my history of drinking
- Drinking made my depression worse
- I was dependant upon alcohol to get through every day
- The money I spent on alcohol could have been used to buy a new car
- The extra calories never helped
- Heartburn/acid reflux very often
- Worsening heart palpitations
- Social isolation

3.) What do I like and what do I think I will like about giving up my addiction?

- I have a clear mind
- I’m getting more sleep
- I have the opportunity to do my art again
- I feel like I have much more time in the day
- I have the opportunity to get my depression treated now
- No extra calories from alcohol
- My bowel movements/intestinal activity has improved
- I have the knowledge that I’m giving my brain, esophagus, heart, pancreas, liver and kidneys a break
- I am giving up a negative dependency
- I go out on walks and take photos
- I have a chance to be more social
- I have the opportunity to make my dreams come true instead of just thinking about it

4.) What don’t you like about giving up your addiction?

- No more “instant bliss” or buzz
- I cannot drink socially
- Since I’m not drinking I no longer enjoy the taste
- I cannot use alcohol to “escape”

Freepath 05-17-2009 11:25 AM

Bam, That is a very good cost benefit analysis.
How about these, also:
People who drive with a BAC of 0.1% are 3-15 times more likely to be involved in a fatal car accident
Drinking greatly increases the chance of hypertension, malaise, certain types of cancer, and cerebral hemorrhage

Alera, when you say “New England Regions Facilitators Handout” are you referring to the worksheets on here?

SMART Recovery® - Tool Chest and Homework

I’ve been working with this one. It helps to solve problems which will not be resolved with antidepressants or a change in my mood.

shockozulu 05-17-2009 05:33 PM

Freepath, the manual is separate from those worksheets. I don't remember where I got it but its a manual for those who want to facilitate SMART meetings. I use the worksheets on the page you pointed out and then add some of the questions from the manual to really push myself and make me think.

jamdls 05-17-2009 06:28 PM

there has been a picture sitting on the floor in my hallway for months, maybe 3 maybe 6 I don't know and there is a mirror sitting on the floor in the guest room for almost as long I need to hang them.
I failed my "assignment" for this weekend, I told myself I was going to get in my car and go somewhere even if just the 15 miles to my daughters house to visit, I didn't get in the car all weekend...oh well I saved gas.

JustAYak 05-17-2009 06:54 PM

I failed to do my assignment. Oh well. I'm a senior :)

Gypsy Feet 05-17-2009 07:12 PM

I got lost along the way! I'm not sure what assignment I was suppose to do, but I lived through the weekend and didn't kill anyone, and that's a start!

JustAYak 05-22-2009 08:25 AM

HA. I don't have assignments anymore. At least not until next august..
