Need some perspective
 

The craziest thoughts have been going through my mind as of late. I have this guy here I was involved with, who works in mental health. I am almost ready to call him to ask for help. I have an intake scheduled on Friday for yet, another rehab. At any rate, he was a verbal abuser and I am trying to reframe everything so I don't call him.

The truth is he is well connected. If I asked him for help, I am sure he would be there. Still, my one and only detox was as a result of knowing him. Ok, my mental health is not doing well, at this point, which is why I put this out there. I cannot call this guy for help. To do so puts me at risk. Thanks.

Right you are. A verbally abusive person who works in the mental health field... wow! And you were involved with him, so his neutrality/objectivity is immediately in question. And I wonder about your ability to be as honest as you need to be with him to get the help you need, considering that you were involved with him.

Don't call him. You have an intake Friday. Certainly you will have an opportunity there to ask about any additional mental health services you might require.
