doorknob

LMAO
I have always associated your id here as AA terminology i.e., you can have the doorknob as an HP, but today I truly SAW your doorknob and said hey! That's alot of power, yeah, I can turn the doorknob and walk out of anything, anywhere I don't want to be! (Primary DX....flight risk! LOL) and well, gee, the door goes both ways and it means I can open doors where I would ruther be!

So how many years has it taken for THIS dim lightbulb to see the light?!

LOL, that was my original intention, a sarcastic association...

I dunno... a doorknob all by itself isn't good for much. It kinda needs to be attached to something, preferably a door of some kind...

JA! Stone.....it is on public display! Si, senor! SEE for yourself!

aaaaahhhhhhhh, geez doorknow, uh...doorknob....you would just have to point out that distinction.
I suppose I did see the doorknob in it's useful application for which it was designed.

It helps that I don't have on my glasses and age lets me see things in my own light,
if I don't squint the "k" can look like a hand on the doorknob.

MUFFLED

So sorry, DK....I just keep sticking my foot in my mouth and it isn't on purpose,
well not to the extent that it appears to be.

I beg to disagree. The doorknob is what you put your hand on, and what you turn. It is what gives you the power to turn and walk out.

When I had a very upsetting incident with my addict mother, what do you think I remembered? You got it. The doorknob.

A doorknob is a tool...oh wait...not you know...never mind. As I was saying a tool, a tool to get a task done. It is but one way in a host of many to accomplish the same thing. To clasp and open or close a door. Yet a doorknob serves a limited purpose, for many doors open or close at ones control but do they lead anywhere worth entering? And that depends on where one is going? yes...no...maybe?

I saw that coming, Zen! Close the door!

My social skills suck sometimes. And I don't want an escort out the door.

Anytime I blow off my mouth, I regret it.

I did not plan the double entrendes in this post, but am letting them stand.

Am grateful for Alera's diplomacy! Thank you!

And as long as DK and some others are laughing, well....OK

Don't encourage me....those doors have locks on them!
But I will gladly sit back and watch anyone else who wants to fly it in the breeze.

I've lurked and posted here on and off for over a year, and I've always appreciated doorknob's posts. I think doorknob is a great moniker. A doorknob, on a more ethereal level, is a means to a passageway to another room or way of life. You cannot leave the room of despair until you turn the doorknob of hope.

I do appreciate (in a great way) Paul's contributions to the secular sidings... of the too often big ole profound giant looming side of A.A. that is seemingly all encompassing. Doorknob has expressed many of my thoughts with the skillful grace that I too often lack...then a doorknob is symbolic of my entry into subjects that defy my skillful handling therefor.

Yeah DK does do some great posts and is a warrior for the non-religious community here which spices things up! He does actually make good arguments and backs up what he says as opposed to not believing with the passion and fanatacism of an actual believer!

Anyways note to anyone travelling to England, ffs do not go on about doorknobs. If you say to someone 'The key to sobriety is grasping hold of the doorknob and giving it a good twist, this will be the key action to your release' will only result in the persons you are saying this too rolling on the floor. I know US have a different sense of humour but, with my English mentality, I can't help but smile. I honestly hope DK that i end up going to an AA meeting here in Spain and they start telling me about doorknobs, i will rush here to tell you all about it:-)

Thanks liveweyerd for a great thread, it's nice to have a smile whilst keeping sober! I totally understand the metaphor of the door handle and it puts it into pretty simple terms what we can do with it.
