surrender
“My friends, no matter how rough the road may be, we can and we will, never, never surrender to what is right.” - Dan Quayle ( LOL...potatoe)
I like to use the word surrender in the context as don't give up in even in the face of overwhelming odds.
I do not care for the concept of surrendering as in abandoning hope or submitting to the power of another.

Oh no, not Dan Quayle. He's one of my favorites:
"Mars is essentially in the same orbit . . . Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe."
"The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century."
And my absolute favorite:
"[It's] time for the human race to enter the solar system."
Anywho....
Another phrase would be "real alcoholic".
Other than the ones that are obviously (or even subtly) religious in nature I don't have a problem with most of it - I just try not to get caught up in the AA buzzwords. It is tough sometimes though.
Really, most AA cliches get on my nerves. But here're a few that really bug me . . .
Meeting makers make it!
Stick with the winners!
Fake it til you make it!
Religion is for the people who are afraid of going to Hell; spirituality is for the people who've been there.
Change or die!
Get Off The Pity Pot!
Bend your knees before you bend your elbow.
Some must die so that others can live.
