wait...what??? How have I not seen this thread? This is great as I am a quotaholic. Friends find it highly annoying...oh well
"This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man."
Shakespeare
I love that one because for so long I used "to thine own self be true" to fuel my self-destruction. Today it means something entirely different to me.
"Ever notice how 'What the hell' is always the right answer?"
Marilyn Monroe
Love her...
"Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world"
Marilyn again...
"It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell."
Buddha YUP!
"Quit harping on the splinter in your brother's eye when you have a big fat friggin 2x4 sticking out of your own"
From a religious text and ok... I paraphrased a little
"I was going to attend a local skeptics meeting, but I was too skeptical to go in"
"If I could drink normally...I would do it every day!" LOL the absurdity....
Thanks for this thread I read all four pages
Gonna be writing down some of your gems.

- Chuck Palahniuk
"Knowing you might not make it... in that knowledge courage is born."
- William S. Burroughs
"If [you] wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything is ready, [you] shall never begin."
- Ivan Turgenev

To climb without giving it too much thought.”

- Nikki Sixx
“Be kind. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”

“Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”

When you are studying any matter, or considering any philosophy, ask yourself only what are the facts and what is the truth that the facts bear out. Never let yourself be diverted either by what you wish to believe, or by what you think would have beneficent social effects if it were believed. But look only, and solely, at what are the facts.
