SMART-RELAPSE PREVENTION: What are you doing today?
SMART-RELAPSE PREVENTION: What are you doing today?
As the holiday season is approaching, I know it is hard for many of us. I thought I would post the following list and post what activities I will be doing on any given day. This makes me a bit more accountable since I can see what I will be doing. I can also make adjustments if I am having a bad day.
Feel free to post what you are going to do to keep yourself busy. We can even get ideas from each other!

I just emailed a thank you note to a friend who, 4 years ago, planted the seed that my drinking might be problematic. We've been out of touch and I hope it doesn't freak her out but I wanted to let her know how important what she said was to me... what a positive difference she made in my life.

For me, it means I need to get on it the next day. I put things off so easily ananda. Once they are done and my anger has settled (feeling anger is actually healthy although it doesn't always seem that way) I go on with my other daily plans.
I find that a small reward after paying bills helps to switch my mood away from the anger.
Sorry for the late reply.
Today I will be doing:
STUDYING ACADEMIC SUBJECTS/SOCIALIZING ACTIVITIES: working with a fellow student as we are both falling behind in our classes. We plan to support each other so we will actually get some class work done. I've already studied some Latin today.
VENTING FEELINGS: Writing in my journal
GAMES: Playing with my new Nintendo DS

In order of operations:
Relax and reflect (now)
Wash hair (and body of course ) and care for dog needs
Go to work, design and perform 2 tattoos (one is of a swallow with a banner that will read "The Truth Shall Set Your Free"---very apt for this week)
AND the next part:
"?"
This is actually a big thing for me...not having to plan out the evening to avoid drinking, and just knowing whatever hubby and I do will be fun and rewarding (or totally lazy maybe), and will not result in a hangover or next-morning-depression. Maybe a movie, maybe dinner with friends, who knows? I'm a week sober today and my mindset is definitely improving.

I'm beginning to realize that I won't have perfect sleep every night, and thats ok. Its still way better than passing out every night from being druk or on pills.
Do people here get impatient when everything doesnt magically fall into place after becoming sober? lol

ahhh the magic cure....it would be nice wouldn't it....
Today I will clean part of my house no matter what.
Today I will wrap the gifts and post the stuff i didn't get mailed in time for the holiday.
I need to read something intellectual today...my mind needs it.
I think the most compassionate thing I can do for myself today is to get some things done....it isn't going to magically get better so I better get out the hoe and start weeding

It *is* a vicious cycle, and even though (for me) my checking account will be wiped out, and some bills left unpaid till next time, I do feel better after I'm done...
It's just so hard to get myself to sit in the seat and pay them!
I'm withya!
