What is your favorite version of the 12 (or any number) steps?

I have been reading through the threads here and there seem to be a large number of modified 12 step programs. I am always interested in reading different versions as they give me insights into the processes of recovery. So far, my favorite is the pro-active 12-step (http://proactivechange.com/12steps/a...steps-List.pdf).

I like the Agnostic, Buddhist, and ACOA ones from this site: 12 Steps – Original and Alternative Versions | Realistic Recovery

thanks for the (or any number), Jazzfish.
i'm partial to the original six, which come in different versions.
if i could find a six-step group, i could actually do the steps. i think.
here are a couple of versions:

We admitted that we were licked, that we were powerless over alcohol.
We made a moral inventory of our defects or sins.
We confessed or shared our shortcomings with another person in confidence.
We made restitution to all those we had harmed by our drinking.
We tried to help other alcoholics, with no thought of reward in money or prestige.
We prayed to whatever God we thought there was for power to practice these precepts.

We admitted that we were powerless over alcohol.
We got honest with ourselves.
We got honest with another person, in confidence.
We made amends for harms done others.
We worked with other alcoholics without demand for prestige or money.
We prayed to God to help us to do these things as best we could.

they're p[retty much the same.
and then i really like this description of what i guess later turned into step five:
He made a rigorous confession of his personal defects and thus quit living alone with his problems.

I've always wondered why people feel free to rework the text of the 12 steps, but not the number of steps.

My addictions didn't fall out of a clear blue sky so I have benefited from recovery models that address the "roots" of my addictions as well.

16 Steps of Discovery and Empowerment

Jane’s 12 Step Recovery Manifesto for Adult Children of Tiger Mothers at Jane's Mental Health Source Page

and my favorite of all
Addiction | Addiction Recovery | Addiction Treatment | Codependency | Shamanic Healing

Oh, and another one, which takes me forward in areas of my life beyond recovery...Twelve Talents for a Good Life |
