There is a really good eBook on Kindle called Buddha in Bluejeans. Best of all it's free.
It covers how to do Zen sitting meditation without any dogma, religion or references to Buddhism.
I found it really helpful with my meditation practice.
Your friend,

Your friend,
Yeh, there are some terrific meditation / mindfulness books, podcasts, cd's etc out there these days. We're very fortunate.
One of those whose teachings (very relaxed, no formality) on meditation / Buddhist approaches to addiction and recovery from, is Noah Levine. He's part of the DharmaPunx (I think) based in NYC. I watched a fantastic little series of his teachings online, using my subscription to Tricycle magazine / website. He's pretty cool - covered in tatts, just sitting in his little Brooklyn garden courtyard, his cat wandering about in the shade (it was done in summer I think). I loved it.

Hi all,
Turns out there are two Buddha in Blue Jeans books. I think this thread is referencing the one that includes meditation teachings.
Buddha in Blue Jeans: An Extremely Short Zen Guide to Sitting Quietly and Being Buddha
Several of this authors books are available free through different ereader outlets.

I just sit indian style for 15 mins right when I get up and around 5PM (after a days work kinda timing) I use a timer and just recognize that I'm sitting with myself. When I remember, I count down from 100->1 then 30->1. Eventually the little bell rings and there's my dose of meditation.
I've been meditating for 2.5 years now. When I was using and now that I'm not. I tried a lot of stuff, even the brain waves, and now this simple way seems to work for me.
