I love that house, I would order it lol

"From 1908 to 1940, the Sears Modern Homes Program offered complete mail-order houses to the would-be homeowner — what would come to be called “kit homes.” Customers could select from dozens of different models in Sears Modern Homes Catalog, order blueprints, send in a check, and a few weeks later everything they needed would arrive in a train car, its door secured with a small red wax seal (just like the seal on the back of a letter)".

Trailmix, that is a very interesting article. I had never heard of these homes even though I was raised with Sears Catalogues in the house.

I love the Rodessa, 4 rooms and a bath, perfect for simple living in a sweet little house.

Sears was the original Amazon, I think. They carried everything by mail order. What a loss it was to lose their stores here in Canada and I think many in the U.S. too, yes?

Did you ever wonder why you never see dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica?

Ever wonder where they go? Wonder no more.

It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life.

The penguins have a very strong community bond. They are very committed to their family and will mate for life.

They also maintain a form of compassionate contact with their offspring throughout its life.

If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried.

The male penguins then gather in a circle around the freshly dug grave and sing....

..."freeze a jolly good fellow."

Card for Dad

Father’s Day was near when I brought my three-year-old son, Tyler, to the card store. Inside, I showed him the cards for dads and told him to pick one. When I looked back, Tyler was picking up one card after another, opening them up and quickly shoving them back into slots, every which way.

“Tyler, what are you doing?” I asked. “Haven’t you found a nice card for Daddy yet?”

“No,” he replied. “I’m looking for one with money in it.”

Off the Hook

It has been many years since the embarrassing day when the young woman, with a baby in her arms, entered a butcher shop. She confronted the butcher with the news that the baby was his and asked what he was going to do about it. After a long discussion, he offered to provide her with free meat until the boy was sixteen. She agreed. He has been counting the years off on his calendar.

One day, the boy who had been collecting free meat each week, came into the shop and said, “I’ll be sixteen tomorrow.” “I know,” said the butcher with a smile. “I have been counting too. When you take this parcel of meat home, tell your mother that it is the last free meat she’s getting and watch the expression on her face.”

When the boy arrived home, he told his mother what the butcher had said. She just smiled and replied, “Son, go back to the butcher and tell him that I have also had free bread, free milk and free groceries for the last sixteen years, and watch the expression on HIS face.”

Redneck Schoolkids

A policeman was talking to a class in the small schoolhouse located in West Virginia. After he had explained the duties a policeman has, he asked the class. “If you were to see a car coming in opposite directions on a one-lane road, what would you do?”

Zeke was called to answer. He replied, “I would notify my half-brother, Jake.”

The policeman looked at him and he asked, “WHY would you call Jake, instead of someone like myself?”

Zeke replied, “Because Jake ain’t never seen a wreck like that! I’m sure YOU have though.”
