At home detox 4/18/2020 (nervous)

Hello everyone!
Im going to start at home detox next Saturday on my own. I have 9 days of vacation at this time and really looking forward to it! Im ready to have a clear mind and be able to exercise! To be able to experience real joy and happiness again! To just be able to live life free of the chains that are holding me captive. Im pretty much a functioning addict at this point and I feel Ive been way too comfortable with that for a long time ago it comes to my love for oxycodone. I mean love? For something that makes me lazy and stay in the house 24 hours a day? Ugh. I mean, I work from home, I do school online from home, but other then that I don't go anywhere unless but out for errands. I struggle with getting fit because the oxy has control over my mind. You cant even enjoy your endorphins because the oxycodone clouds them. The money Ive spent is ridiculous! Im surprised I still own my own home! I know I can accomplish way more goals then Im doing now If Im free from this stuff. I have made a list of why I want to stop:
1. Im tired, I want energy!!!
2. Im depressed, I want to be happy!!
3. Im lazy, I want to do things with my kids!!
4. I want to enjoy life I dont enjoy life!
5. I want a clear mind!!!
6. I want to exercise!
7. I dont want to be irritated all the time!!!
8. I want to live a long life!
9. I want to save money!
10. I want to be a good example for my kids!!!!!!!
You can do this!!!!😇😊😁

hopefully during detox I will look at this list and push through the difficult times.

The meds I have to get through the withdrawals are:

Hydroxyzine for anxiety
Theanine Serene with alora. For a calm mind and body
melatonin for sleep
Tyleon/ibuprofen for pain
Hylands restless legs
stomach relief tablets

Hopefully these will help!

*******if anyone that has been through opiate withdrawal can tell me what may have helped them get through withdrawal and how long the worst symptoms last I would greatly appreciate it!**********

I will be looking here for support as no one really knows Im going through this. I will check in during my detox.

Thanks for listening hopefully this wasn't too long!

Hey godd for you! Youve got this

That seems like alot of stuff that will get your through the detox, you should be fine if your smart. My personal experience I have used vitamin c and Kratom or a very small supply of suboxone to taper me off the withdrawls. (I'm talking like only a couple strips). Anyway not being at work will help, maybe binge a good show on TV for the first day or two to get your mind off the way your body feels in between sleeping. The most annoying part is the out of body feel with chills and hair standing on edge if you know what I mean I dont know how else to explain it but in my experience it you can breathe threw and tell your self you dont feel THAT bad. A lot of it is mental. And you seem to have a great mind set of feeling again after. I found my personality and became witty and again when I dropped opiates and didn't realize how numb I had been. Also dont just go from a high dose to cutting your self off and having supplements, that would be my only other reco from experience, maybe the last dose to be like 15ml or something low. Anyway congrats

Ugh

I failed :-( I couldn't take the leg cramps and being so restless even during the day. My next thought is trying to taper. Does that even work? If so, how would 1 do a taper?

I'm glad things worked out Justinekatie but, in the interest of balance, here's a recent thread on Kratom from the Newcomers forum

Hey Simplysyrene :)
I have no experience in tapering oxys but I'm wishing you well.

What else have you been doing to stay clean?

Im not interested in Kratom. However, in reading other posts a person in one of these forums suggested opi-cure for withdrawal and so I checked the reviews and they were good so bought 2 bottles and waiting for them in the mail! Ill update this forum later once I try them! :-)

Hey,

tapering only will work if you spread it out over weeks and you have someone give you your pills as scheduled in my experience. If left to do it on your own when you start feeling rough you’re more likely to cave. Good luck

i hope everything is going okay.

Hey, I read about how you are trying to go about the process of getting off of oxys and going into it, just know that it will be tough! I wish you the best and yes you are right....You will feel completely different when your free! Its a great feeling but its not going to be easy. I don't want to discourage you, but if it were then there would be no need for forums like this, right? I do sense that you are mentally on the right track and if you stay true to the goals you set and the reason for attaining them, then it is more than possible. Someone mentioned not being alone during the last part of this, and this is something that i strongly agree with. If you are alone, your mind will play tricks on you and having someone with you to talk to you and also be there when it gets rough just in case you need help is a must. I wouldn't suggest just stopping, you will have to taper and it will be rough once you get down to the last week but much more tolerable and much safer to do it this way. Lastly, you should be fine if you do this slowly but just have a plan in case you start to feel bad. It can be done at home but its always much safer depending on how long you have been using to do this with medical supervision. Best of luck to you.

Welcome Dwo :)

I hope simplysyrene is doing ok, but this is a thread from 2020 that’s been bumped a few times :)

The absolute hardest part about withdrawal for me is the vomiting. I vomit for days - even after there's nothing left to bring up.

This makes taking pills hard. I generally get prescription anti-nausea tablets from the doctor and Immodium from the pharmacy to reduce this as much as possible.

I've managed to withdraw 3 times but so far have always gone back. IMO it takes more like 2 weeks to be able to get back to life, and another few weeks again to feel more normal. Your mileage may vary :)

Try again. My opinion is that the only real failure is to give up trying. Try, try again. You'll get there.

Also, as hard as drinking fluids is, try to stay hydrated. Dehydration is a real risk for at home detox.

If it gets too much go to the ER.

Yes tapering is always difficult and although its do-able, it feels like torture. There are symptoms that can be severe so i wouldn't try to do this without someone with you, doctors supervision or at least knowledge in case you need help along the way, and someone holding the pills and administering them to you. There will be times where you simply dont think you can do it and when weakness takes hold, your will power will be tested tremendously. It is possible, but not recommended. It is always best in my opinion to the extent that it is possible to go see an addiction specialist so they can coach and monitor your successful withdraw and road to recovery. Best of luck going forward!
