24-Hour NO Nicotine/Smoking Club

I thought it would be useful to start a 24-hour club for those quitting smoking as there are a few of us and it's so helpful to take things One Day at a Time.

I'll commit to no nicotine for the next 24-hours. Will you join me?

I'll sign up for another 24-hours nicotine free!!

No smoking for me this day
Cause it's too much fun to say
"I don't smoke"
And I don't want to go broke
Smoking all my money away

(I spend a lot of time on the sobriety limerick thread, and sometimes they just happen now.)

Remember, "Yard by yard, life is hard. Inch by inch, it's a cinch." The same really applies to quitting smoking.

Easyrider, Kat, Amy, glad y'all joined in!

Amy, way to go on 36 hours!!

Nicotine takes 3 days to totally clear out of your system, but after that the physical withdrawal is all over... you're 1/2 way there!!

I'll sign up for another 24 hours!!

I'll make up a new song
Since I don't want to smoke to get along
I don't miss the coughing
Or wondering if smoking will be my offing
By not smoking you can't go wrong!

Keep kicking ash everyone!!!

Sorry, but I blew it an hour before my 2 days I left work, went to the store, and got in my car and my transmission wasn't working. Didn't matter what gear I put it in, it went to neutral.

Had dad come pick me up, have roadside assistance through Verizon so can have it towed to mechanic's tomorrow. It could be something minor or major ($1300+). I don't have that kind of money.

Had paid bills ahead, but used a lot of that money to get to CA and back.

I got a pack of cigs, but will start over tomorrow. Spent the day reading Allen Carr's book, again, and it "clicks" but this was just too much.

I'm scheduled to take another trip on Monday, and I'm planning on following through with it. I NEED to be around family that adores, loves me and I them.

I'd only taken 2 puffs, put the cig out, but got home to find my sm f'd up from the ground up, and I just couldn't take it.

I'm determined to stop, but I just fell back on old habits tonight

Tomorrow is another day.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Prayers Amy.

Two set backs in two days for me

Deep dark depression, since Friday.

Allen Carr is with me all the time, I ain't gonna give up.

Well done to all who made it through the 24 hours.

Love & peace xo

Kat - thanks for letting me know it's not just me. I've got Allen Carr's words in my head, too, and have to admit..smoking again didn't fix a damned thing, but I figured it was the least of my evils to turn to.

On to another day!!

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Thanks elegantly wasted x.

Impurrfect, I always remember how I had "the permanently dull complexion" and blue lips from lack of oxygen.

I also remember how by about 2pm each day (would smoke about 10 -I5 by then ) I could not stay awake, even after 12 hrs of sleep.

It keeps pulling me back in. Damn nicotine monster!

Must try to beat it.

I'll be signing on again in the morning. Tonight was rough, but smoking didn't make anything better, so going back to NO cigs!

Tough times don't last, tough people DO!!!

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

It never does.

It took me a looooong time to get that. All that ever happened if I smoked over something bad was that I still had the original problem AND had to keep smoking or quit again...both terrible options.

We imagine smoking will help because it helps with the discomfort of nicotine withdrawal so it tricks us into thinking it will help with the discomfort of life stress.

I call the nicotine AV the NicoDemon. (Well, I picked that up from other quitters, I can't really take credit). It might help to visualize him the next time you're thinking of smoking.

His only goal is to turn you into one of these sooner: (After taking your money, time, & health.) 1/2 of all smokers who don't quit will die from smoking. The others will still experience health problems because of it.
