Loss of appetite?

I know that when most people quit smoking, their appetite increases and they eat more for the oral fixation, cure of boredom/not smoking, and food tastes better. But not for me.
I've lost 3-4 pounds this week, my first week of not smoking. I just don't have the desire to eat really. I'm not hungry. It could be the Chantix, which can cause taste distortion. It could be because of the excessive coughing, which has always caused loss of appetite for me (when coughing on bronchitist etc).
It could be the Chantix and nicotine withdrawal causing irritability coupled with my pet peeve of hating hearing people eat (specially at work). It makes me sick to my stomach to hear people crunch on chips and crap and junk food. It makes me not want to eat.
*sigh*
I made myself have a Coke and peice of pizza today and it's probably all I'll eat. I have no energy. I was up till 4 a.m. coughing my head off and gagging. I'm so tired.
:sad2:

Hi Ruby, a belated welcome to SR. Looking around the forums I see you've got a few threads going and I'm glad to see you reaching out for info and support. I hope you'll join in on the Daily Check-In to post your progress http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...art-vii-6.html

No I have to admit that when I quit chewing my drinking increased, then when I sobered up I cross-addicted to eating. But I think that everyone will react differently, the most important thing is to have an awareness, and take necessary action to correct the behavior.

Maybe a suggestion.....when I was eating heavily I really craved junk food, but as my body continued the healing and detox process the food started to taste so much better that I started to crave healthier foods. Instead of pizza and a Coke, how about trying something a little healthier? It certainly made things easier on my stomach, I was able to stop taking Aciphex for the acid problems.

I always heard that people gainn weight after quitting too. And that they eat more.
I am experiencing the same as you. I am not eating that much. Hardly feel hungry when I do eat.
I dont mind. I could stand to lose about 100lbs.
But I only eat small amounts too.
I hope your eating a healthy amount of food. Dont go hungry. Drink some broth or eat something light.
Soda probably isnt the best thing to drink. Lots of water.
I have been drinking alot of iced tea and hot tea at night. And my water intake has increased as well.
I am goin grocery shopping tomorrow and plan on buying lots of fruits and veggies. Yogurt and stuff like that. No more junk. That makes me feel like crap too. All the high fat and salty food I eat.
Good luck and please eat.
