First Chair this Wednesday
First Chair this Wednesday
Hi Everyone. I was asked to chair a meeting this Wednesday and it is a pretty big meeting. I am really worried. I have started making notes and suff, and am trying to think how I can make it interesting without too many of the war stories. I'm not very good at public speaking or even being in public
I do have some ESH (on step eight, about 1 year 4 mos. sober, sponsor, feeling better...).
I do feel like I owe contributing in some way, though. I haven't taken a commitment yet and at least this would be doing something.
Just a bit (a lot) scared.
Jup.

How exciting!! I bet all of us were nervous at first.
I too made notes
and
forgot to take them!
I said a prayer
and
"Hi Everybody...I used to drink"...
Hugs

(((Jup))) That's awesome. You will be great. I have now learned that I do the best when I don't think about speaking at all. When I get ready to talk, I just say a little prayer and ask God to help me say what the people need to hear. Then I just go with it. Be sure and post and let us know how it goes!!
Well,
I made it through my chair in spite of a bad cold. I feel pretty good about it. I tried to talk about some of the good things that have occurred in the last year of sobriety and not just dwell on the bad things that happened while I was drinking.
Quite a few people thanked me at the end. Makes me feel I need to get a lot more involved in the program. Almost like this isn't enough and I should do much more.
Anyway, it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be.

I know that you did great. You are helping so much more than you may realize now. Your ESH is making a difference and with your sober time, you are showing people than sobriety can be accomplished.
