Liver Enzymes????

Just a quick question, I'll keep it short so as not to bore you all.

My doctor called me today with the results of my blood test, and said that the average liver enzyme was 50/60 and that my test results showed up as 880. She said she'd discuss it with me further when I see her on Monday, but i'd really appreciate any information

Thanks

The liver can heal...

Be prepared for your doctor to say you must stop drinking.

There are other causes of liver problems...but for drinkers that is usually the culprit.

Don't think you are ever a bore...we are here to aid each other,,,

Take care...

i had the same thing. my alt enzymes were high and my doctor told me to stop drinking. this is a warning sign that you must heed. the next step is cirrrhosis if you don't take this seriously. i am taking milk thistle right now. i read that it can help with your liver function. also stopped drinking. day 27 this morning and life gets better and better without it.

Hey Art. CarolD is right (as usual - smile, Carol!) - the liver DOES heal, very well I might add. When I first decided to stop drinking, my enzymes were high like yours. Almost 6 months later and mine are not only back to normal, they're beyond that - better than normal, as my Dr. said! Not sure how much or for how long you've been drinking, or how hard it will be for you to stop, but do what you can - get help if you need it (I did.) You won't regret it and your body (and mind) will thank you!!

Good to see you, and GREAT question!
